If you’re looking for an elite cruiser yacht, step aboard the 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard. This beauty is 42-feet of luxury on the water, with all the amenities you need to relax a cruise in comfort.

You get plenty of power from the twin outboards, a precision, engineered hull, and a fantastic driving experience. Let’s unpack everything you need to know about one of the leading power cruiser models available.

Design Overview

You’re sure to turn heads when you pull into the marina driving the 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard. Cruisers is one of the leading power yacht builders setting the bar for its range by introducing the 38GLS model. Now, Cruiser aims to outdo itself with the triple-engine 42GLS.

The sleek, streamlined look of the yacht gives it an eye-pleasing aesthetic, and it’s a great balance between performance, luxury, and elite fittings. We love how the hullsides morph into extended decks, with Cruiser’s innovative and intelligent use of space being clear throughout the boat design.

With the platforms extended, you get over 19-feet of deck available for your experience out on the water. The 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard is a real express cruiser featuring a full hardtop over the helm and lounge. The wraparound dinette provides an aggressive look to the design, with a large electric sunroof as standard equipment.

The 38GLS feels more like a really big bowrider, but the 42GLS does the job of setting the impression of a real power cruiser. We like the full glass enclosure on the sides and enough room to accommodate up to ten people overnight.

Engines

The 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard gets its power from 400-HP Mercury Verado’s triple setup. These motors are the pinnacle of power and technology in the Mercury range, and the three-engine configuration on the 42GLS offers you enough power for any ocean conditions.

You have options to upgrade or downgrade the standard 400-HP configuration to 350-HP or 450-HP setups. We feel that the standard 400-HP setup offers you everything you need in the performance and handling of this Cruiser model. When you open the motors, the 42GLS planes in seconds, reaching a top-end speed of 52-mph.

Hull

The 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard gets its outstanding performance and lightweight handling from its low-drag, precision-engineered hull. The team at Cruisers worked on taking the best elements of the hull design on the 38GLS and tweaking it to perfection for the 42GLS.

The hull comes with a 21-degree transom deadrise, making short work of the roughest conditions in Atlantic waters. You’ll find the yacht bounces over the largest waves with ease while maintaining excellent control and handling.

Interior, Seating, and Deck

If you’re looking to live a life of luxury out on the water, then the 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard gives you an impressive yacht with everything you need for weekend trips up and down the coast or island-hopping adventures in the Caribbean.

Taking its design from its smaller sibling, the 38GLS, the 42GLS gives you a sense of an upgraded feel to the interior and exterior of the boat. While many would expect the smaller version to have a cleaner, stocky, sporty look, we find that it’s the 42GLS that has the more aggressive yet elegant styling to it.

The 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard features an additional cabin over the 38GLS, featuring a full queen berth tucked away in the aft in what appears to be a private playpen. There’s also a dinette that converts into a tapered queen bed for the kids or friends.

There’s a mini galley, along with a refrigerator and microwave for cooking. The transom features a rinse-off shower for getting the salt off you after exiting the water. However, the cabin comes with a full-size shower and vanity.

The cockpit galley is spacious, with a Kenyon grill and a TV mounted for viewing while you’re enjoying your morning coffee or if you need a distraction while prepping meals. The stools turn the raised counter into a bar allowing you to enjoy your breakfast or a snack.

The captain gets the best seat on the yacht. The helm features a bolstered double-wide captain’s chair with an impressive dash featuring the dual Simrad 12-inch touchscreens for GPS navigation and fish finding.

The joystick is to the left of the tri-spoke, chromed-out steering wheel, allowing you comfortable and precise operation when docking at the marina. The driver’s cockpit also features air-conditioning ducts to keep you cool when it starts feeling hot and humid. There’s also a zippered back door to enter the cockpit, and you have the option of heating or cooling the area, depending on the seasonal requirements.

The collapsing windshield door flips away to give you access to the bow lounge, and there’s a gate with a recessed design for breeze and spray protection. Parents will appreciate the high coamings around the bow lounge to prevent them from climbing onto the bow deck.

The bow lounge features wraparound seating and plush, comfortable seating, with under-seat storage for your gear. We love that Cruiser use every opportunity they can to increase the storage capacity on the yacht. The bow also features a table that converts into a sun pad for additional tanning space on those glorious, sunny days at sea.

The stern and bow lounge both feature plenty of cupholders as standard, and there’s an option for a sunshade. You get a Genius anchor windlass stored out of sight under the foredeck hatch and control over the anchor windlass through a foot button at the helm.

Cruisers also bring you an in-house design for its wiring harness, with all wiring labeled for future identification and tracing.

There’s plenty of teak and use of luxurious upholstery throughout the boat, and the welding on the rails and stanchions features a high-polish finish. You also get easy access to the underdeck systems like the batteries, filters, and seacocks in independent compartments and bilges.

You also have the option of installing the 5.5 kW diesel generator to keep the fridge cool and the air-conditioner flowing in warm weather. Choosing this addition requires an additional 20-gallon fuel tank to power the generator.

You also have the option for fitting the Seakeeper gyrostabilizer, with plenty of space for it in the machinery area in the vessels aft.

Pricing

The 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard is not an inexpensive model. This cruiser will set you back $1,081,619 at the dealership, so it’s strictly for the elite yacht owner looking for a premium model. The 42GLS comes with an impressive array of luxury features and fittings as standard, and you have a few options for electronics and navigation upgrades. T

here’s also the option of upgrading the motors to the 450-HP Verado’s or downgrading them to the 350-HP engines. There are several floor plan options to discuss with your dealer and a range of customizable fittings as standard with your package.

2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard – The Verdict

You’ll love the power, luxury, and versatility of the 2022 Cruisers 42GLS Outboard. It’s a fun cruiser yacht with all the power you need to enjoy island hopping and trips up the coastline. You get excellent engineering and elegant design making it the ideal vessel for entertaining friends or business associates out on the water. You get amazing amenities, comfortable accommodations, and everything you expect in a luxury cruiser model.
