If you’re looking for a flagship luxury pontoon boat, the 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback offers you everything you would expect in a high-performance model. The Fastback comes in a range of attractive colors, with a design that just oozes performance with its sleek lines.

The tri-hull offers plenty of stability, and the 600-HP Verado from Mercury powers this boat to impressive speeds. The handling is excellent, and you get a great pontoon boat designed to bring you the best cruiser and partying design possible in a luxury model.

Design Overview

From the moment you lay eyes on the Fastback, you understand that it’s different from other pontoons in its class. Bennington carries over the tapered bow design from the long to the pontoons, adding a sleek design element that adds to the sexiness of the boat.

The Tri-hull design offers you excellent stability, but there’s little impact on the steering and maneuverability of this watercraft. The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback comes with a 25-foot length, and this power cruiser has a functional and high-tech cockpit, with comfortable, plush seating, loads of lounge space, and an 18-person passenger capacity.

Engines

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback benefits from including the brand new V-12 600-HP Verado from Mercury. This 6-Liter motor is a real beast, powering the boat to speeds of 30-mph in 4-seconds.

The single-engine 600 is a close competitor to the twin 450XL Verado’s, and we might even like it a little more. With the single motor over the twin setup, you get a quiet, smooth, refined, jet-aircraft-like sound and display of power.

The boat powers its way to a top-end speed of 57-mph at 6,450 pm. Even with the throttle open full, the motor never breached the 90-dB mark, making it much less taxing on the ears than the twin 450XL setup on other leading power pontoon models.

The Verado 600 offers the best cruising speed for the 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback at around 2,500-rpm. At these speeds, you can expect the economy to be around 3-mpg at speeds under 18-mph.

With the 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback, you get a versatile engine setup that’s economical, produces low emissions, and offers you plenty of power. This boat turns on a dime because there is only one motor and prop.

Hull

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback is the range’s flagship, but it comes with the standard Bennington hull technology found in every boat in its lineup. This boat measures 31-feet in length, with a 10-foot beam and an extended foredeck in the bow with wide and deep twin lounge couches to comfortably seat for or five passengers aside.

The aluminum tri-hull does a fantastic job smoothing out the ride for your passengers while optimizing stability and performance handling. The Bennington fastback comes with excellent handling for use in rough water conditions, and it makes docking the boat a breeze.

While Bennington doesn’t have the V-hull design that many of its competitors are moving toward, it benefits from the single-prop motor setup. With a single point of contact in the water, as opposed to the twin-prop setup in competitor models, the Fastback manages to keep up with the handling and turning performance on next-gen tri-hulls.

Interior, Seating, and Deck

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback comes with enough room to comfortably take up to 18-people with you out onto the water. This is the entertainer’s party boat of choice, with everything you need to enjoy a good time on the lake.

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback features blackout deck trim with top rails and deck skirting combined with the smoked Lexan windscreen on either side of the cockpit. The Bennington is the pinnacle of luxury, offering you a striking diamond-stitched sport interior.

The material features Graphite Simtex vinyl and perforated metallic carbon for a luxurious and functional feel. The stern on the Bennington Fastback comes standard with all QX Quad Bench floor plans, and it complements the bow’s silhouette.

The entertainment space lights up with the RGB coloring from the 13 speakers in the bow and aft lounges and the cockpit. We love the optional seagrass flooring providing stability and traction underfoot from bow to stern.

The Fastback comes with all the electronic and tech features you expect to see from this iconic boat manufacturer. You get high-speed USB charging ports throughout the boat, and the couches have folding armrests featuring touchpad charging.

The pilot and co-pilot cockpits offer you luxurious high-back captain’s chairs. Both chairs come with adjustable bolsters and a fully-loaded dash facing the driver. The dash features a 12-inch touchscreen display and engine readouts displayed front and center.

The captain’s cockpit also houses the controls for the Roswell premium sound system, with speakers and a subwoofer hidden under seats throughout the aft and bow lounges. The “party pit” in the aft features wraparound seating with a removable center gate.

The stainless steel gate to the vessel’s aft leads to the rear platform, where you’ll find the stainless steel boarding ladder. The boat’s transom, along with the decking, supports, and 32-inch pontoons, give the hull a huge footprint, allowing the power of the Verado 600 to provide the vessel better buoyancy, speed, and control.

Bennington’s flagship is a real winner and a great choice for a premium tri-hull power pontoon. The QX floor plans come with cladded or open sport arches to give the boat that aggressive and sporty look while providing superior versatility for tow watersports.

The computer-assisted design of every 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback allows the companies engineers to tailor each vessel to the customer’s specific needs. It’s a high-quality boat with a premium price tag to boot.

Pricing

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback comes with a premium price tag for a tri-hull pontoon in the upper end of the category. We could compare the Bennington Fastback to the Manitou 27 XT SRW or the PlayCraft PowerToon X 3000.

However, both the competitors have a twin-engine setup and more power with higher top-end speed. Where the Fastback stands out is its looks and attention to detail. While the other two options are a great deal, you just get more of a premium brand feel when you step aboard the Bennington.

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback comes with a standard baseline price tag of $288,951. However, ad a few customizations and electronics here and there, and it’s easy to get the boat over the $300,000 mark.

2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback – The Verdict

The 2022 Bennington QX28 Wide-Beam Fastback is a solid choice for anyone looking for a flagship power pontoon. We really like the addition of the Mercury Verado 600-HP setup. This engine configuration brings something different to the performance and handling of boats in this category.

You get a boat that’s clearly one step ahead of the competition regarding luxury and fittings. There’s everything you would expect on this boat, with plush benches, a range of floorplans, colors, and materials for the seats.

You get loads of storage space and a stylish but functional automatic Bimini shade top for the captain and the rear lounge. This model is a real win if you’re looking for the best there is in power toons.
