It’s a tightly kept secret that Malibu boats are the owner of Axis. As a sister company to Malibu, we can expect nothing but quality from the Axis range. If you’re looking for a dedicated watersports boat, then this is the ideal model for wakeboarding and wakesurfing.

It’s an affordable entry-level model to ballast boats, bringing you all of the features found in models two or three times its price. You get powerful performance in a compact, maneuverable package that’s great for cruising and wakesports. Let’s unpack everything you need to know about the 2022 Axis T250.

  • 2022 Axis T250 – The Verdict

Design Overview

The 2022 Axis T250 comes with a sleek design that reminds us more of a bay cruiser than a tow sports boat. There’s a deep-V hull allowing for amazing control and maneuverability out on the water. The two-tone paint job on this model really catches the eye, and you can bet it will turn heads at the marina.

The Axis range offers some affordable entry-level boats for first-timers and those price-conscious buyers on a budget for their watersports entertainment. With the 2022 Axis T250, you get the complete package for dialing in big wakes for surfing, fine-tuning of the wake for wakeboarding stunts, and tow toys.

This 25-footer offers you some of the best value available, and class-leading seating for up to eight to ten passengers, without feeling cramped.

Engines

The 2022 Axis T250 gets its power from the 360-HP Malibu Monsoon M5Di fitted as standard equipment on the boat. You also have the option of upgrading to the more powerful 430-HP M6Di with a supercharged Malibu Monsoon LT4 motor powered by GM Marine.

You get the 5-year factory warranty on the engine included with your purchase and plenty of performance from this motor. You can expect top speeds that approach 65-mph and around 4.6-seconds to reach 30-mph.

Hull and Ballast

Where the 2022 Axis T250 shines is with its ballast and hull design. As mentioned, the Axis 250 doesn’t feel like a watersports boat. The deep V-hull provides a look and feels closer to what you would expect from a bay boat or cruiser.

However, that translates into an incredibly smooth ride with epic handling capability. The axis model has different styling compared to Malibu boats. You get chiseled lines and a clean look. However, there are fewer color options with Axis over Malibu.

The 2022 Axis T250 offers you agile performance out on the water. There are 5,370-lbs of ballast available, including 1,500-lbs of simulated ballast from the Power Wedge III, allowing you to create huge wakes to suit wakesurfing sports.

The Power Wedge II system allows you to customize the shape and size of the wave to over 1,000 variations. There’s a memory function allowing you to store your favorite rider settings.

The Surf Gate tabs allow quick changing of the wake to favor one side of the boat over the other, allowing increases in wave height and length. The Axis also includes its legendary Surf Band™ wearable technology with your purchase., The rider wears the band and adjusts the ballast and engine output to suit their riding experience.

Interior, Seating, and Deck

The 2022 Axis T250 comes with a sleek design featuring clean lines and a compact size. It’s surprising to see that this vessel accommodates up to eight to ten passengers considering the 25-foot length. It’s a great wakesports boat and ideal for party cruising on the lake in the summer.

The 2022 Axis T250 offers you an agile and responsive boat that is ideal for watersports. Pick up raiders by turning on a dime, and navigate into the slip with precision docking. The Axis comes with more than 5,000-lbs of adjustable ballast, and there’s a full setup for wakesports included with the base package for this model.

You get audio surf-signaling with the Axis, doing simple work of alerting the rider when switching sides. The Axis comes with exceptional performance on the water, allowing you to reach speed while maintaining maneuverability.

The classic bow lounge offers comfortable seating with lay-back loungers featuring cool-touch materials and a variety of color schemes available. Passengers have access to amenities like cup-holders and grab handles, along with plush vinyl seats and plenty of under-seat storage capacity.

You’ll love the Axis Soft Grip on the step areas around the boat, making for safe entries and exits to and from the water. The spacious wraparound lounge gives you enough seating in the bow for four to six people.

When you’re ready to hit the water, the Sliding Axis Skybox Seat™ gives you a space to prepare your gear. There’s a pop-up Chill-Ax seatback transitioning from a standard seating bench to a rear-facing chair in a second. Keep your eyes on the action in the water without having to turn your neck to see what’s going on with your rider.

The aft deck gives you enough seating capacity for another two people, and the aluminum Bimini shade automatically opens in seconds to shade the driver cockpit and the aft lounge. The Axis comes with an impressive standard sound system, with speakers and subwoofer hidden away out of sight under the seats.

There’s a port-side cooler for food and beverages, and the hinged cushions on the seats give you easy access to your supplies. When it comes to the helm, Axis delivers another set of outstanding standard design features.

The large touchscreen interface is a first for the Axis range. You get a low-profile dashboard and console, with all your controls tightly arranged for convenient reach and use. The dash comes with an integrated universal phone holder, an ergonomic sports steering wheel, Bluetooth stereo input, analog controls, and switches.

However, the 7-inch touchscreen is the standout, allowing you to access the ballast systems and wake controls for the boat at a touch of a button on your screen. The ski tower comes with board holders, and there are speaker cans mounted into the frame pointing towards the rider for a thrilling time in the water.

You get a wraparound windshield for reducing wind and spray, with a collapsing center section allowing easy access to the bow lounge. The Axis offers your guests a comfortable and relaxing adventure out on the water with comfortable seating and cool-touch materials for the lounge.

Pricing

The 2022 Axis T250 is one of the more affordable entry-level watersports boats. This dedicated wakesports boat comes with all the features of top-end vessels in its class, at half the price.

The base model of the 2022 Axis T250 retails for $107,178, with the Monsoon M5Di included as standard equipment. We think that’s excellent value for money and one of the best offerings in its class.

2022 Axis T250 – The Verdict

Overall, the 2022 Axis T250 offers you one of the best choices in its class for cost-conscious buyers. You get a boat capable of hanging with the top models in its class. The driver experience is world-class, and you get plenty of adjustable ballast for wakesports.

This model comes with an affordable price tag, and there’s plenty of room for options. If you decide to spend a bit more, it’s easy to get the boat up to the $120,000 mark with the addition of a few optional extras.
