If you want to do some island hopping in style, the 2022 Regal 38 SAV brings you a high-performance watercraft with everything you need for cruising the coastline, hunting deep sea fishing spots, and towing watersports. This vessel comes with premium fittings and finishes and an expensive price tag. Let’s unpack everything you need to know about the 2022 Regal 38 SAV.

Contents

Design Overview

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV offers you the complete package for an offshore boat. This model comes with an elegant design, a deep V-hull for cruising and stability in trough water, and an extended swim platform for easy access to the water and plenty of room for casting.

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV (Sports Activity Vessel) comes with a powerful triple motor configuration, excellent cruising speeds, and all the bells and whistles you need in a power cruiser.

The Regal 38 features a standard setup ideal for fishing, including Taco rod holders, outriggers, and downriggers. It’s also the entertainer’s dream, with plush seating, a large V-berth for overnight accommodations, and a sleek hull allowing for effortless motion through the water, with minimal drag.

Engines

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV comes standard with triple Yamaha F300 outboard motors, propelling the boat to a top speed of 50-mph on flat water.

The four-stroke engines turn the 15 ¼ x 18 Saltwater Series II props at speeds of up to 5,800-rpm, burning fuel at a rate of 38.4-GPH. You get a range of 253 statute miles on a single tank of gas, and a 10% reserve tank, bringing the total fuel capacity for the vessel to 340-gallons.

When pinning the throttles, you get to planing speed in around 4.8-seconds, with acceleration to 20-mph in a staggering 6.8-seconds.

Hull

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV features an overall length from bow to stern of 39’8″, a beam of 11’11”, and a 34.12″ draft. The hull comes in your choice of eight colors, with a further ten colors available for the hull-side trim.

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV comes with the patented FasTrac Hull design found on all Regal models. With its debut in 1997, the patented FasTrac hull has an award-winning design, and it’s on the top of the list of high-performance hulls offering minimal drag and excellent handling.

The FasTrac hull reduces surface tension during movement, relieving the drag and friction caused by the deep hull design. The full-beam step and inverted strakes reduce drag while enhancing tracking and maneuverability. As a result, you get a higher top-end speed and unparalleled handling.

Interior, Seating, and Deck

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV is the cruiser’s dream, offering you a spacious deck centered around the helm. You’ll find four luxury bucket seats facing the helm, with two of them swiveling to the aft. The aft-facing bucket seats allow the captain’s chair to face forward while the passengers do the grilling.

Below the grill, you’ll find one fridge and space for an additional fridge if you need it. Three drawers are available for your cookware and everything you need to feed your crew.

The port side of the galley features a 20.5-gallon livewell, with clear acrylic sidewalls giving you a full view of your bait and adequate aeration. We like the slide-out Yeti cooler under the four helm seats, allowing you to keep cold drinks at arm’s length from the aft seating.

The helm gives you access to the cockpit through the starboard passage or to the spacious bow lounge through the port side of the helm. The aft lounge has enough seating for four passengers, and the three-seater transom couch unfolds to create a spacious relaxation area.

The transom couch has starboard and port Plexiglas doors with stainless steel tubing frames. The stylish design of the entries gives people in the lounge or sitting on the transom couch a view of the water while ensuring that no youngsters can access the water.

Take the portside walkway to the bow lounge, and you’ll find luxury seating with cool fabric to prevent it from heating up in the sun. The large bow lounge accommodates seven passengers, featuring enough room to step off the bow and jump into the water.

If you take the starboard side from the helm, you’ll find boarding access at dock level, with three teak steps leading to the cockpit deck and the cabin below deck. Below deck, the 2022 Regal 38 SAV features a large cabin, with plenty of seating in the V-berth and a convertible dining area allowing setup for overnighting out on the water.

The cabin has a twin V-berth, with a central cushion inclining toward the cabin, providing you with comfortable seating for two. The mid-cabin has enough sleeping space for a couple in a queen-size bed, and the head features a porcelain sink with a walk-in shower.

The finishes on the Regal 38 SAV are exquisite, adding to the boat’s luxury appeal. You get polished stainless steel hardware, teak steps, and designer cocktail tables. There’s a Fusion Marine sound system playing throughout the boat, with speakers in the bow lounge, after lounge, cockpit, and throughout the cabins and V-berths.

You get plenty of storage with cabinets throughout the gally and living areas and LED reading lights for enjoying a book after the sun goes down.

Pricing

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV is a premium watercraft with a heavy price tag. The base model retails for $834,550, and that’s a decent chunk of change to spend, but it’s worth every penny.

It’s important to note that you’ll end up[ spending closer to the $900,000 mark if you decide to go buck wild with the optional extras for this boat.

Additional Features

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV comes with a range of optional extras you can add to the boat to improve your experience.

The Cruise Package includes additional safety equipment like life vests, fire extinguishers, dock lines, fenders, hook, and boat brush. You get deep-drop electrical outlets, adding the functionality of electric reels.

The fishing package sets the boat up with additional rod holders and underfloor storage for the largest commercial catches. Add the greywater system and drain the gray water to the holding tank, making it ideal for those waterways requiring gray water storage systems.

IF you want the best control over the vessel for docking, we recommend ordering the Helm Master EX Full-Maneuverability with a joystick. The Helm Master™ EX offers you the next level of control when docking or maneuvering into the slip.

The following are some of the other optional extras available for the 2022 Regal 38 SAV.

  • Anchor Windlass – All Chain / Rope and Chain.
  • Fender clips.
  • LillyPad with holder.
  • Outriggers and rocket launcher.
  • 2 x Paddle Board Holders.
  • SeaDek for the swim platform.
  • FLIR M232 camera system.
  • Bow and cockpit seat covers.
  • LED TV for the mid-cabin.
  • Garmin Open-Array Radar system with touchscreen.

2022 Regal 38 SAV – The Verdict

The 2022 Regal 38 SAV brings you the complete luxury package in cruisers, with powerful engines, superb handling, and enough accommodations to spend a weekend out on the water.

It’s a great choice for a liveaboard vessel, with everything you need for fishing and relaxing at sea. It may be an expensive boat, but you get almost the same level of functionality and luxury as something much more expensive, like the Formula 500 SCC, at a third of the price.
